Those records of enduring value that document the collective memory of the University are acquired, preserved and made available by Queen's University Archives (QUA). Such records are transferred from the numerous administrative and faculty offices via an on going records management programme; many others are received either by donation or gift from a variety of sources including: faculty, staff, students and their various organizations, and other interested persons; and from alumni of Queen's University. Examples of such fonds/collections are the records of: the University administration (including Minutes of the Board of Trustees, the University Senate, and the Faculty Boards; the records of the Offices of the Principal, and the five Vice-Principals, the University Secretariat, the University Registrar, and the Dean of Women); the various Faculties, Schools, Institutes, Centres; the numerous student organisations (including the Alma Mater Society, the Engineering Society, the Arts and Science Undergraduate Society, the Society of Graduate and Professional Students); and the papers of prominent Queen's faculty members (including, John Watson, Allie Vibert Douglas, A.R.M. Lower, J.A. Corry, and John Deutsch). QUA also holds a substantial collection of printed material created at Queen's, most notably: the Queen's Journal, Queen's Calendars, The Tricolour, and the Queen's Quarterly.
