Visit - Duke of Connaught, 1901

Kingston Picture Collection V23 Vis-2
Visit by the Duke of Connaught, 15 October 1901

Kingston has long held an important seat in Canadian history – it was a key military stronghold of strategic importance, former capital of Canada and home to three institutions of higher learning, among so much more.  It should come as no surprise, then, that when royalty visits the Canadian portion of the Commonwealth, that Kingston has been a popular destination.  From inspecting Canada’s newest officers to celebrating anniversaries and special events, the Royal family has long received a warm welcome to Kingston!
